U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Jerry Edward Auxier of Dixie, Nicholas County, West Virginia, was last seen alive was on July 29, 1968, as he made his way — with several other soldiers in his company, to the top of a hill in Vietnam's Quang Tin Province, not far from the Laotian border.
