Scripps Sports signs local broadcast agreement with Detroit Pistons
The multi-year deal makes WMYD-TV the lead local home and adds gameday, weekly and streaming coverage for fans across Michigan.
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the Detroit Pistons announced a multi-year partnership with Scripps Sports to return games to free, over-the-air television beginning with the 2026-27 NBA season.
Seeking a new broadcast home, the Pistons were among 13 NBA teams affected when Main Street Sports Group, parent company of FanDuel Sports Detroit, began winding down operations.
WMYD-TV, also known as TV20 Detroit, will produce all locally available pre-season and regular season games, including pregame, in-game, and postgame shows plus digital content.
Pistons Owner Tom Gores called the partnership "a new era of Pistons basketball," stating the move ensures more fans throughout Detroit and Michigan can access games.
Marking Scripps Sports' first deal with an NBA franchise, the agreement expands their portfolio, which already includes partnerships with WNBA, NHL, and NWSL teams.
