Scouts Will Now Be Able to Earn Badges in AI and Cybersecurity

Scouting America launched AI and cybersecurity merit badges to equip youth with digital skills and ethical foundations for future tech careers, serving over 1 million Scouts nationwide.

  • Scouts have had about a week to complete the new badges, with Charles Hendricks, 13, and Wydell Hendricks, 15, already earning them and considering cybersecurity careers in the Air Force.
  • Building on prior AI work, including Scoutly, Scouting America says the badges help Scouts explore careers as cybersecurity analysts, AI engineers, software developers, or digital forensics experts.
