Supreme Court turns away Kari Lake lawyer’s challenge to sanctions in Arizona voting machine lawsuit
The justices declined to review the case after lower courts found the voting-machine claims baseless and upheld penalties against Andrew Parker and his firm.
- On Tuesday, The Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal by attorney Andrew Parker, leaving intact $122,000 in sanctions against him and his Minneapolis-based firm, Parker Daniels Kibort.
- District Judge John Tuchi imposed the penalty after finding the 2022 Arizona voting-machine lawsuit brought for Kari Lake and Mark Finchem relied on "false, misleading, and unsupported factual assertions."
- In his petition, Parker argued that sanctions could "chill lawyers' ability to assert unpopular or difficult claims," warning they deter attorneys from bringing "creative, aggressive or novel claims."
- The San Francisco-based Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the sanctions in March 2025, while separately overturning related penalties against retired Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz due to his limited role.
- This final denial concludes a legal battle dating back to the 2022 midterms, cementing the penalty after The Supreme Court previously declined to take up the underlying case in April 2024.
