Middle school teacher accused of sexual relationship with student admits she stalked him, police say
Teresa Whalin faces charges of sexual assault, internet exploitation, and stalking after a 14-month sexual relationship with a student at Ranch View Middle School.
- On Monday, Teresa Whalin, 28, former Ranch View Middle School teacher, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of a child, internet exploitation of a child, and stalking after school counselors were alerted on November 10.
- During the 2023–2024 school year, Teresa Whalin provided support to the student struggling with mental health, and investigators say the relationship became sexual in April 2023.
- Investigators documented admissions that Teresa Whalin drove the student to school, later drove near the student's home and walking path, used fake phone numbers, and called the relationship 'wrong and illegal'.
- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Teresa Whalin has worked for the Douglas County School District since July 2021 and has been placed on administrative leave, while Ranch View Middle School seeks a long-term substitute and supports students.
- Detectives asked anyone with information or potential victims to contact Detective Clay, and Teresa Whalin told police the student manipulated her, while she is held on a $50,000 bond at the Douglas County Detention Facility.
