French Officers Raid Nestle's Perrier Water Bottling Site
Nestlé said it is cooperating as investigators examine whether Perrier water treatments affected its natural mineral water status.
On Tuesday, French anti-fraud department officers raided two Nestlé sites, including a Perrier bottling facility in Vergeze and a laboratory in the Vosges mountains.
A complaint filed to the Paris prosecutor by consumer group FoodWatch alleging "deceit" triggered the investigation, Radio France reported.
Perrier has faced scrutiny since 2024, when reports indicated it used water treatments to prevent contamination, meaning it could no longer be described as "natural mineral water."
Nestlé confirmed it is cooperating fully with the investigation, which follows July 2025 raids by French Authorities on the company's Paris headquarters.
The department declined to comment on the probe, though a 2025 French court previously rejected a separate case against Perrier.
When questioned by the AFP, the Nestlé Waters management confirmed "unannounced inspections at two sites", adding "full cooperation with the authorities concerned".
The operations were launched on Tuesday 19 May on the site Perrier de Vergèze (Gard) and the laboratory of analysis of Vittel (Vosges), as part of a judicial information for "tromperie", learned "Libé", confirming an information from Radio France.
