The court said the National Testing Agency may keep the exam in pen-and-paper mode after the nationwide test was cancelled over paper-leak allegations.
On Monday, the Supreme Court refused to direct the National Testing Agency to conduct the June 21 NEET-UG 2026 re-examination via Computer-Based Test mode, maintaining the existing pen-and-paper format.
The NEET-UG 2026 examination, originally held on May 3, was cancelled nationwide on May 12 following allegations of a paper leak; consequently, the Central Bureau of Investigation launched a probe into the irregularities.
Citing practical difficulties, the court declined the request to shift testing formats, observing that such a change at this stage would pose operational challenges for the fresh examination.
Students must prepare for traditional pen-and-paper testing on June 21, as the court's decision solidifies the existing format despite ongoing concerns about the initial paper leak allegations.
