After Supreme Court Censure, UP Govt Says, Banke Bihari Temple Ordinance for ‘Better Facilities, Administration’

UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA, AUG 5 – The Supreme Court suggested appointing a retired judge-led committee to oversee Banke Bihari Temple management amid disputes over alleged fund mismanagement and state control.

  • On August 4, 2025, the Supreme Court of India suggested appointing a committee headed by a retired High Court judge to manage Shri Banke Bihari Temple until the ordinance’s validity is decided.

  • The temple receives about 20,000 to 30,000 devotees daily and two to three lakh on weekends, Nataraj said.
