Why Croatia vs England Stadium Could Be Almost Full Despite UEFA Ban
UEFA’s punishment is softened by an exception for children under 14 and a special ticket allocation for 100 England supporters, officials said.
- England faces Croatia today in a Nations League Group A3 clash at Stadion HNK Rijeka, with kick-off scheduled for 5 p.m. BST. Both teams enter the pivotal match tied on 3 points.
- UEFA ordered this match played behind closed doors as punishment for fan trouble during the 2025 Nations League quarterfinal against France. A loophole allows 5,500 to 6,000 children under 14 to attend alongside roughly 100 England supporters.
- England manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed Marc Guehi is "very likely to start" alongside Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham. Croatia boss Slaven Bilic expects 41-year-old Luka Modric to return to the starting lineup.
- Tuchel admitted playing behind closed doors is "never nice," though he welcomed the children attending. England seeks to build on recent form while Croatia aims to recover from a 4-1 loss to Spain.
- The match reignites a modern rivalry dating back to 2018, with England winning their last three meetings against the hosts. Croatia previously hosted England in a 2018 Nations League clash at this same stadium under closed-door conditions.
