Man, 39, Charged in Child Sex Offences Case Worked for Nanaimo Hockey Team
RCMP say three junior A players were identified as complainants after an investigation that began in 2024 and led to charges of luring and sexual exploitation.
Former junior hockey executive Tyler King, 39, was arrested Friday at the Lansdowne, Ont. border crossing and faces charges including luring a person under 18, sexual exploitation, and making child pornography.
The RCMP began investigating in June 2024 after an Okotoks Oilers Hockey Association employee reported a former staff member was soliciting intimate images from players; King worked with teams across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.
Cpl. Daniel Campbell of the Southern Alberta District General Investigation Section stated the three victims were junior A hockey players under 18 from Alberta and Saskatchewan, identified following an extensive investigation.
Following a judicial interim release hearing, King was remanded in custody and will return to Alberta to face the charges; he was employed at a State University campus in New York at the time of arrest.
Police stated the number of potential victims remains unclear and urged anyone with information to come forward; Alberta RCMP are unsure whether King is currently under investigation in the United States.
