SAS, NC State Launch AI Think & Do Tank to Advance Health Research
The two-year pilot will pair SAS software with NC State researchers to build AI-ready datasets and test predictive biology methods.
On Thursday, SAS Institute and North Carolina State University announced the SAS Think & Do Tank, integrating advanced analytics into interdisciplinary research through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Fifty years after SAS grew out of an agricultural research project at the university, the two organizations are returning to their roots to invest in next-generation research, technology, and talent.
Researchers will explore statistical approaches for complex biological datasets, utilizing organoids and organ-on-chip technologies to better predict how treatments behave in humans and accelerate discovery toward real-world impact.
Designed as a two-year pilot, the initiative emphasizes responsible AI usage. "The next generation of innovators will need more than powerful technology," said SAS CEO Jim Goodnight.
NC State Chancellor Kevin Howell noted the partnership extends a relationship that "has shaped discovery in North Carolina for decades," creating opportunities to apply AI in service of society.
