King to auction Christmas stockings made from Sandringham’s curtains
Twenty-four luxury stockings made from Sandringham curtains will be auctioned to support The King’s Foundation’s craftsmanship and sustainability initiatives.
- On Tuesday members turned Sandringham House curtains into 25 Christmas stockings at Dumfries House, with 24 auctioned and one given to The King.
- The King's Foundation, based at Dumfries House, aligns with heritage-skill training and sustainability, as the sewing bee meets weekly and has used Sandringham Estate curtains in recent months.
- Members Christine Wilson, 72, and Andrea Middlemiss, 63, who had not sewn before, spent more than six hours per stocking using hand embroidery, piping and seam matching.
- Organisers say 24 numbered stockings will be sold at auction to raise funds for The King's Foundation, hoping winners will treasure them as family heirlooms.
- King’s Foundation's 2025 Christmas Charity Auction is open, and Sarah McClymont described the stocking-making as an "exciting project" for members, highlighting their pride in the work.
