- On Monday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced the "IA360 Plan" for responsible artificial intelligence deployment, aiming to secure a "great national agreement and a new social contract" with employers and unions next month.
- Sanchez criticized "tech oligarchs" who claim regulation hinders innovation, warning that concentrated, uncontrolled AI creates "the perfect cocktail for a tragedy to occur" and threatens democracy and shared prosperity.
- The 12-month roadmap includes an AI gigafactory and new models developed with the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre, while Secondary Education and Vocational Training curricula will be adapted to build AI skills among young people.
- First Vice President and Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Carlos Cuerpo emphasized that the plan ensures AI "has owners and not just recipients," with Government negotiations with unions and employers set for next month.
- Sanchez stressed that AI must expand human understanding rather than displace judgment, with the technology serving to close social and economic gaps instead of widening them amid growing global AI regulation efforts.
