- Authors and publishers have filed dozens of suits against major AI firms, with lawsuits targeting OpenAI, Microsoft, and Meta Platforms for alleged misuse and Anthropic settling for $1.5 billion in August.
- Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff had earlier said AI firms use `stolen` training data and paying creators would be `very easy to do`, the plaintiffs' complaint notes.
- A Salesforce spokesperson declined to comment on the lawsuit on Thursday, and Reuters described the filing as a proposed class action accusing the firm of unauthorized book use.
- Attorney Joseph Saveri said Thursday, `It’s important that companies that use copyrighted material for … AI products are transparent,` and added, `It’s also only fair that our clients are fairly compensated when this happens.
