In Safranbolu district of Karabük, saffron fields have begun to turn purple. Due to the laborious nature of its production, saffron is among the world's most valuable spices, and this year the target is to harvest 55 kilograms of product.
Saffron flowers have bloomed in Safranbolu. The new season's saffron is being sold for 800,000 TL per kilogram. The harvest will last 40-45 days, and producers have opened their fields to visitors.
In Safranbolu district of Karabük, the harvest of saffron, cultivated by 51 farmers on 110 decares of land, has begun with the blooming of the purple flowers. Only half a kilogram of saffron can be obtained from 80,000 flowers, and this year the price per kilogram will be 800,000 Turkish Lira.
The saffron plant, synonymous with Safranbolu district of Karabük, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, has begun to bloom. The price of saffron has risen to 800,000 TL per kilogram in the new season.
