Rwanda has started administering Hepatitis B vaccine to newborns, in a bid to boost their immunity against the disease and prevent its spread. This is according to a statement released by the Rwanda Health Commission (RBC) on Friday, January 2, 2026. The statement stated that Hepatitis B is a serious disease caused by the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV). Most people with this disease are infected by their mothers at birth.
