Our terminals are not receiving any liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia, said Katherina Reiche, Germany's Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, on Tuesday. She added that the alert level had been lowered to the lowest due to the high level of gas reserves. The minister assured that domestic gas reserves are currently at 50 percent.
Berlin - The German government today lowered the alert level for the country's gas supply. It had raised the alert level to the second level on a three-level scale shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Now, Economy Minister Katherina Reiche has announced that the lowest alert level is now in effect.
Reiche's predecessor, Robert Habeck (Greens), declared the alert level on June 23, 2022, in light of the reduced Russian gas supplies. According to Reiche, the security of gas supply in Germany is currently "high."
