- On Tuesday, Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev arrived in Pyongyang for a working visit to discuss enhancing law enforcement cooperation between the two nations, state media confirmed.
- Kolokoltsev will hold talks with North Korean Minister of Public Security Pang Tu-sop, with spokeswoman Irina Volk writing on Telegram that "Issues of cooperation between the two countries in the field of law enforcement will be considered."
- This visit follows Pang's travel to Russia in September, when the two nations signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation on public safety affairs and law enforcement.
- Relations have deepened since the 2024 signing of the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty," which includes a mutual defense provision that led North Korea to send 14,000 soldiers to Kursk.
- Pyongyang also plans to convert its public security ministry into a police body, which currently oversees public order and functions similarly to South Korea's national police agency.
