Russia Says Drone Attack Damages Togliatti Facilities, Ukraine Says Petrochemical Plant Hit
Kyiv said the strikes disrupted Russian military supply chains and ignited a major fire at a plant that makes synthetic rubber and missile-related materials.
- On Saturday, Ukrainian forces struck the Tolyattikauchuk petrochemical plant in Tolyatti, Samara region, triggering a large fire at the synthetic rubber facility, according to Ukraine's General Staff.
- Tolyattikauchuk produces synthetic rubber, which Ukraine's General Staff claims serves as foundational raw material for solid rocket propellant used in Russian tactical and ballistic missile systems.
- The drone attack prompted precautionary evacuation of shifts at the neighboring AvtoVAZ automotive plant, Russia's largest carmaker, while local authorities temporarily suspended airport operations following the threat.
- Ukrainian forces also targeted the Proton-Elektroteks plant in Oryol and an aircraft at the Yeysk airfield on Saturday, part of synchronized operations aimed at degrading Russian military-industrial supply chains.
- Concurrent strikes damaged the Taman substation, causing widespread power outages across occupied Crimea, while Russia's Defence Ministry reported intercepting 1,297 drones across 22 regions over the previous 24 hours.
