Russia holds massive drills of its nuclear forces as Ukraine steps up its drone attacks
The three-day exercise involves 64,000 troops and practice launches of nuclear-capable missiles as Moscow cites a threat of aggression.
On Tuesday, Russia began three days of nationwide nuclear weapons drills involving 64,000 troops, practicing the "preparation and use of nuclear forces under the threat of aggression," the Defense Ministry said.
Cross-Border drone attacks intensified overnight, with Ukraine targeting Moscow, Kursk, and Yaroslavl, while Russian forces launched over 500 drones and 20 missiles against Kharkiv, Izmail, and other regions.
The exercise features over 200 missile launchers, 140 aircraft, 73 surface warships, and 13 submarines, including eight armed with nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles, while coordinating with ally Belarus.
President Vladimir Putin began a two-day visit to China as the Kremlin warns that attacks involving European-manufactured drones carry "unpredictable consequences" for the West.
Diplomatic efforts to end the four-year war remain stalled, while recent strikes increasingly affect the daily routines of civilians in both nations.
