Russia’s latest attempt to bolster its struggling fleet of commercial aircraft by leasing planes from Ethiopia has ended in failure, Ethiopian media reported, as international sanctions continue to isolate the country’s aviation sector.
Russia has tried to negotiate with Ethiopia for the lease of civil aircraft by Ethiopian Airlines, but it has been denied, and the media have previously reported that the parties are negotiating a deal, but the CEO of the airline carrier Mesfin Tasev has "decidably denied" them, calling them "perfectly false."
