Russia and Ukraine Complete Largest Prisoner Swap, Exchanging 303 Detainees
- Russia and Ukraine completed the largest prisoner swap in over three years of war on Sunday, exchanging 303 detainees each side brought home.
- The swap was the third part of a major exchange following peace talks in Istanbul earlier in May that failed to produce a ceasefire.
- The announcement followed a large-scale Russian assault involving drones and missiles that struck Kyiv along with over 30 other cities and regions across Ukraine.
- Ukrainian President Zelenskyy called the strikes 'deliberate strikes on ordinary cities' and urged Western partners to increase sanctions on Russia.
- Despite the swap as a rare cooperation moment, casualties from the attacks included at least 12 dead and dozens injured, underscoring ongoing conflict's persistence.
