- On Monday, Runway announced Gen 4.5, which the company says outperforms Google’s Veo 3 and OpenAI’s Sora 2 Pro on the Video Arena leaderboard maintained by Artificial Analysis.
- To enhance realism and motion fidelity, Runway focused Gen 4.5 on physics, human motion, camera movements and trained video and world models to reflect physical-world behavior.
- The independent benchmark uses blind pairwise comparisons to rank models on Video Arena, where Google's Veo 3 is second and OpenAI's Sora 2 Pro is seventh, while Runway says Gen-4.5 excels in cinematic realism despite some limits.
- Gen 4.5 is rolling out gradually and will be available to all of Runway's customers by the end of the week via Runway's platform, application programming interface and partners, with the company saying it maintains predecessor speed and efficiency.
- Runway's customers include media organizations, studios, brands, designers, creatives and students, and Runway CEO Cristóbal Valenzuela said, `We managed to out-compete trillion-dollar companies with a team of 100 people.
