Canada Men Draw Argentina, Fiji and Spain at 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia
Canada faces a challenging Pool C with Argentina, Fiji, and Spain in the 24-team Rugby World Cup, aiming to improve on an 11-game winless streak, organizers said.
- On Dec. 3, 2025, the Sydney draw placed Canada, the Canadian men's national rugby team, into Pool C for the 2027 Rugby World Cup, which runs Oct. 1 to Nov. 13 in Australia.
- Because the tournament expanded to 24 teams in six groups, Canada men's national rugby team, as the lowest-ranked side, faced a tough pool with Fiji in Pot 2 and Spain in Pot 3.
- Historically, Canada's World Cup record of 7-23-2 and a single pool advance in 1991 means Canada has been drawn with Spain, highlighting the uphill task.
- The new advancement rules mean the top two and four best third-place finishers will advance to the round of 16, with the full schedule release Feb. 3 and the opener in Perth.
- Twelve teams qualified automatically from 2023, while the 12 regional qualifiers filled the field with Canada men's national rugby team securing its spot via the Pacific Nations Cup.
