Marco Scholaris, a final mandate to leave climbing at the top

Summary
One does not change a winning team. The formula can summarize the decision of the members of the International Climbing Federation (IFSC) to take Marco Scholaris back for a fifth term on Saturday in Larnaca, Cyprus. The Italian leader of the IF since its creation, in 2007, and the results speak for him: under his leadership, climbing has integrated the programme of the Olympic Games and managed to settle there for good. A hell of a trick. Unlike the previous election, in 2021, Scholaris had an opponent in the person of the Belgian Tijl Smitz. However, he was unable to dethrone the outgoing president, who won 57.8% of the vote.
