Sculpture by the Sea Finds Lifeline After Flagging Funding Shortfall

Sculpture by the Sea must raise $200,000 to avoid cancellation after losing $1 million in federal funding, with artists guaranteed at least $3,000 each, organizers said.

At the Art of Tax Reform Summit at the Sydney Opera House, Tony Burke appeared to rule out federal funding for Sculpture by the Sea, saying they don’t pay their artists. Also discussed was the removal of tax paid against art prize winnings such as the Archibald Prize.
