Roseland celebrates Women’s History Month

TRYON—Roseland Community Center celebrated Women’s History Month on Saturday, March 21, with a program recognizing “Eastside Women’s Entrepreneurial Accomplishments.”  Among those recognized were Anna Mooney Payne (1866-1931), the matriarch of Tryon’s well-known Payne family, noted for “keeping a store” on Tryon’s Trade St. and for “taking in washing” in the parlance of the times.
