Romania's economy contracted slightly in the 2nd quarter of 2026 – with 0.4% compared to last year and similar to the previous quarter, without major changes compared to preliminary data. In the first half of the year, the economy fell by 0.7%. BCR revised its calculations downwards, estimating that the economy will officially enter into recession this year.
