Rising heat prompts coaches to prioritize athlete safety as school sports begin

SAN JUAN COUNTY, NEW MEXICO, AUG 4 – Coaches follow New Mexico Activities Association guidelines, scheduling water breaks every 20-30 minutes and canceling practice if heat index exceeds 104 degrees to prevent heat illness.
