Economic hardship and family pressure are increasingly causing many couples in China to choose divorce, to the point that online divorce booking services have appeared.
In China, it has become so difficult to get a divorce appointment that some people like medical administrative assistant Qin Meng are making a side income out of it. For a fee of 400 yuan (about 56 euros), she can book a rare time slot online at the government portal – provided she clicks at exactly the right moment. “If you miss it by a few seconds, the day tickets are gone,” says the 30-year-old.
