Ricoh Announces GR IV HDF Digital Camera, Preorder GR IV Camera at B&H Photo
Ricoh's new GR IV HDF adds a vintage-style Highlight Diffusion Filter and a 1/16,000s electronic shutter for better bright-light shooting and creative control.
- Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation announced the GR IV HDF, to be showcased at GR Space starting December 17 and shipping next month at $1,599.95.
- The HDF replaces the standard GR IV's built-in neutral density filter and Ricoh developed the Highlight Diffusion Filter using its inkjet printing technology for a vintage look.
- A new electronically controlled shutter now offers exposures up to 1/16,000s, the Fn button defaults to toggling the HDF, and the HDF printed element uses picoliter ink droplets with a small drive motor.
- Photographers can now shoot at larger apertures in bright light, as the faster shutter plus HDF effect creates a mellow, diffused look stronger on highlights.
- Ricoh says the GR IV HDF keeps GR line image quality while the standard GR IV will receive HDF functionality via a firmware update; B&H Photo Video and KEH.com will handle new and used sales.
