Richard Madden to Star in Paramount+ Medical Thriller 'Trauma'
Madden plays a former Royal Marines medic fighting terrorists in a hospital siege as Prime Video and Paramount+ split distribution rights.
- On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Paramount+ and Prime Video announced 'Trauma', a new medical hostage thriller starring Richard Madden in the lead role.
- Series creator Geoff Bussetil wrote the thriller, where terrorists seize a London Hospital and take the Prime Minister hostage during surgery, forcing former Royal Marines medic Jim Marchant to fight through the building.
- Lionsgate Television and 42 Management & Production are producing the series, with director Daniel Syrkin attached to direct and executive produce. Scott Herbst, EVP of scripted development for Lionsgate Television, called it a "gripping, high-stakes series."
- Paramount+ will release the series globally, while Prime Video handles distribution in the U.K. and Ireland. Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+, said the show is "exactly the kind of bold, global and propulsive storytelling we want."
- Madden, known for 'Game of Thrones' and 'Bodyguard', will executive produce alongside starring; Ben Cavey, managing director of international TV at 42, noted the series blends a "fast-paced energy of a hospital ER with a high-stakes siege thriller.
