One of the four people injured on Monday 22 December by the explosion in the silicone factory in Saint-Fons (Rhône) died on Tuesday. This is the second fatal accident on this site, which had already been the subject of several alerts by the state services. Two investigations are opened.
On December 23, 2025, after the explosions, and the ensuing fire, at the industrial site of Elkem Silicones, in Saint-Fons in the Rhône, the Lyon Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it had opened an investigation "of the cause of involuntary injuries by legal person followed by incapacity for more than three months".
The victim was injured after the explosion on Monday inside a chemical site workshop, classified as Seveso High Threshold.
Four people were injured on Monday in explosions in the Elkem factory in Saint-Fons near Lyon. One of these victims died on Tuesday afternoon according to information from Progress.
