Review: Skoda Fabia 130
The hot hatch uses a reworked 1.5 TSI EVO2 engine, 174bhp, and a reprogrammed seven-speed DSG for quicker acceleration.
The Skoda Fabia 130, the fastest production model to date, launched last October. It features a reworked 1.5 TSI EVO2 engine achieving 0-62 mph in 7.4 seconds, building on the current Monte Carlo specification.
Tracing its lineage, the original sporty model debuted with a 1.9-litre TDI diesel engine and was discontinued in 2007. A subsequent petrol version ceased production four years later due to poor sales.
Priced at £29,995, the vehicle features a 10-inch virtual cockpit and a 9.2-inch infotainment display. The boot offers 380 litres of capacity, with sports seats providing enhanced comfort.
Earlier this month, Skoda announced a limited-run Fabia Motorsport Edition to mark 125 years of motorsport tradition. Only 125 cars will be produced, exclusively available in Moon White metallic paint with a black sports interior.
Sharing underpinnings with Volkswagen Group's Polo and Seat Ibiza, the Fabia excels in urban environments. Skoda said it has always excelled in the "little touches" that make ownership enjoyable.
