Residents told to evacuate their homes as HUGE fire reported in Bracknell
Police said the evacuation is a precaution while emergency crews work to bring the industrial blaze under control.
On Monday, May 25, 2026, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to a large industrial fire at Daler-Rowney headquarters on Peacock Lane, Bracknell, at about 15:00 BST, as dramatic footage showed black smoke on a day reaching around 36C.
The affected site houses Daler-Rowney main operations at the Bracknell site, serving as its main office, warehouse, and colour manufacturing and paper factory, while the fire's cause and the evacuation's likely duration both remain unknown.
Dramatic footage captured Black smoke rising over Bracknell on the hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures around 36C, as Thames Valley Police and other emergency services worked together at the scene to control the industrial blaze.
Officers went door-to-door alerting Residents in part of Crutchley Wood to leave as Thames Valley Police evacuated homes near Peacock Lane, directing evacuees and those heading into the area to gather at Waitrose, Doncastle Road.
Residents not evacuated were advised to keep doors and windows closed as Thames Valley Police said "We would like to reassure the public that this is a precautionary measure, and we will provide further updates as soon as we can.
