Residents in parts of northern Ontario ordered out by growing forest fires
Officials said 128 wildfires and severe heat are driving smoke, road closures and cooling-centre expansions across the region.

Active wildfires total 128 in the northwest as of Monday night, according to Ontario's Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services, with smoke from fires in Canada and the United States visible across the region.

The City of Thunder Bay expanded support for vulnerable residents, extending cooling centre hours through July 15 at PACE on 409 George St. and Elevate NWO on 106 Cumberland St. N.
