Researchers Find Superradiant Intensity Scales Superlinearly With Atom Number

Researchers at Université Paris-Saclay used Fourier imaging to observe the spatial pattern of superradiant emission from a cloud of cold rubidium atoms. They found the intensity of this burst scales superlinearly with the number of atoms, consistent with theoretical models of collective spontaneous emission.
