Republican misgenders McBride at candidate forum before removal
The crowd booed as moderators cut his microphone and removed him after repeated warnings, and Republican Mike Katz called for him to withdraw.
- On Thursday, Republican House candidate Joseph Arminio was ejected from a forum at the Siegel Jewish Community Center in Talleyville after repeatedly misgendering Democratic Rep. Sarah McBride, the first openly transgender member of the United States House of Representatives.
- Moderator Ken Grant issued a warning after Arminio initially misgendered the Congresswoman, but 12 minutes later, Arminio repeated the behavior, prompting the crowd of about 100 people to boo and forcing his removal from the stage.
- Despite the insults, Rep. Sarah McBride attempted to intervene so Arminio could continue speaking; however, fellow Republican U.S. Senate candidate Michael Katz interrupted, stating, "No, get him out of here," leading to Arminio's removal.
- Following the incident, Michael Katz formally called for Joseph Arminio to withdraw from the United States House race, arguing those seeking to represent Delaware must demonstrate "integrity, judgment, decency, and respect" toward others.
- Co-Sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Delaware and the Wilmington Chapter of Hadassah, the event highlights ongoing debates regarding decorum in political discourse, with McBride having faced similar misgendering incidents by other officials in 2025.
