Report: Apple plans to launch AI-powered wearable pin device as soon as 2027

On January 21, 2026, The Information reported Apple has fast-tracked development of an AI wearable and hopes to release it as early as 2027, though the project remains in early stages and may be canceled.
Facing competition, Apple moved to accelerate AI hardware plans after internal setbacks and signed deals to use Google’s Gemini large language models to overhaul Siri.
In terms of design, the AI Pin is AirTag-sized and circular, featuring a thin aluminium-and-glass shell with two cameras .
Apple plans limited initial production of Twenty million units at launch and has not confirmed if the pin will sell separately or with smart glasses and future Apple hardware.
