Bradford Cathedral has a plaque in honour of the Bradford Pals – the 16th and 18th battalions West Yorkshire regiment – “who fought for our freedom and many of whom died on the Flanders fields. We give thanks to God for every remembrance of them.” The plaque was installed on the 1st July 1979, and the Bradford PALS are remembered every year on the 1st July on the anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.
