New remains bring California wildfire toll to 31
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, JUL 23 – The death toll from two January wildfires in Los Angeles County has reached 31, with 19 deaths from the Eaton fire and 12 from the Palisades fire, officials said.
- A 19th victim of the Eaton fire was found in Altadena, raising the total death toll to 31.
- The remains were identified as human and were located on the 10 block of La Venezia Court, according to the medical examiner's office.
- Only one other victim of the Eaton fire remains unidentified, discovered in mid-January in Pacific Palisades.
- Investigators are using dental records, DNA, medical records, and radiographs to identify the remains, as stated by the medical examiner's office.
