Nepal has begun DNA profiling to identify unrecognisable bodies after flooding near the Nepal–China border. Ukraine’s embassy says 56 Ukrainian citizens remain of unknown whereabouts as searches continue.
In Nepal, DNA testing has begun to determine the identity of the dead, whose bodies have not yet been identified after the natural disaster. The procedure also applies to foreigners, in particular citizens of Ukraine.
In Latvia, relatives of 20 missing people have already submitted DNA samples so that they can be compared with samples obtained in Nepal, if necessary.
