Regional ministry proposes new public transportation funding plan

The Ministry of Regional Affairs is seeking an additional €50 million in next year's state budget to maintain public transport funding at its current level. At the same time, it has also submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Finance outlining how public transport could be funded in the future.

The Federal Council intends to co-finance regional public transport to the tune of nearly 3.4 billion francs for the years 2026 to 2028. It is now up to Parliament to decide on the commitment credit.

Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Kjersti Stenseng was in Warsaw on Monday and Tuesday this week to exchange experiences with other OECD countries on how regions can strengthen their own growth and create the foundation for sustainable and competitive societies.
