Residents of Písek in South Bohemia rejected the ZEVO (waste energy recovery facility) in a local referendum. It was to be located on the premises of the incinerator in Smrkovice. The results of the vote are binding on the city hall, so it will now try to find another way to dispose of waste. Other cities that planned to dispose of waste in the planned incinerator will also face the same problem.
