Dodgers acquire pitcher Noah Davis from Red Sox for cash and send righty to Triple-A Oklahoma City
- On Thursday, Opening Day for most MLB teams, the Los Angeles Dodgers acquired right-handed pitcher Noah Davis, 27, from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations, hours before the Dodgers were set to play the Detroit Tigers.
- To make room for Davis on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred pitcher Emmet Sheehan, who is recovering from right elbow surgery, to the 60-day injured list.
- Prior to the trade, Davis signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox on Dec. 20 and saw action in four spring training games, striking out nine batters in 9.1 innings with a 0.86 WHIP and a.206 batting average against.
- Davis, a Southern California native drafted by Cincinnati in 2018 out of UC Santa Barbara, has three seasons of MLB experience with the Colorado Rockies, posting a 7.71 ERA and an 0-4 record in 18 games.
- The Dodgers, who won the World Series in 2024 and are considered favorites to repeat, are adding pitching depth as Davis is expected to report to Triple-A Oklahoma City, while the Angels, after a disappointing 99-loss season, are hoping to improve.
