Recycling sector takes action against extra plastic tax: 'Cabinet is looking for money, waste sector is being hit'
In Moerdijk, Rotterdam, Nijmegen and other places, employees are blocking access to waste facilities. They are protesting against the expected intention of the government to impose a 'plastic levy' of €547 million, which is mentioned in the coalition agreement, on the waste industry. "Such a levy would be fatal for plastic recycling, which is already unprofitable," says Robert Corijn of FNV Bondgenoten.
FNV: waste trucks not allowed at recycling locations
Employees at various recycling locations in the Netherlands will not allow garbage trucks to drop off their garbage on Wednesday. They are doing this in protest against a possible introduction of a new tax on plastic waste treatment, reports FNV.
