Recall Issued for Frozen Publix GreenWise Organic Blueberries Due to Possible E. Coli Contamination
The FDA reported 12 confirmed E. coli illnesses linked to the frozen berries as Publix told customers to discard or return them for refunds.
Publix issued a recall for 10 oz packages of GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries distributed to 8 states—Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia—due to potential E-coli contamination.
Supplier Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur of San Carlos, Chile, initiated the recall after reports linked the product to consumer illnesses between May 11 and June 5, 2026.
The FDA reported 12 confirmed cases of stomach illness linked to E-coli infections, specifically affecting Lot Code 60401 with a best-by date of Feb. 9, 2028.
Customers should return or discard affected blueberries purchased on or before July 3 for a full refund; no other lot codes are included in this recall.
Ingesting E-coli-contaminated food can cause severe stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea; however, most healthy individuals recover within a week according to health officials.
