RCMP confirms workplace death at a fish farm in St. Alban's

The RCMP is confirming that a man was found deceased in the water on Wednesday afternoon at a fish farming operation near St. Alban's.

RCMP confirm sudden death at Nova Fish Farm near St. Albans

Wednesday afternoon, shortly before 2:00 pm, Bay d’Espoir RCMP received a report of a sudden death at Nova Fish Farm near St. Alban’s.  Police say an employee, who was on a barge, was found in the water.  Attempts to resuscitate the individual were unsuccessful. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and Occupational Health and Safety are engaged and the investigation is continuing.

RCMP Confirm Workplace Death at South Coast Fish Farm

VOCM News has learned that a worker has died at a fish farming operation on the south coast of the island. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon involving Nova Fish Farms near St. Albans. A stop-work order was issued following the incident which is believed to have occurred on a barge offshore. Nova Fish Farms is a subsidiary of Ocean Trout Canada. RCMP are investigating.
