Ramayana 3 on the Cards? Namit Malhotra Says Makers May Revisit Plans After Audience Feedback
The sequel was pushed back a year so filmmakers can avoid rushing the finale, with the first film set to open Nov. 5, producers said.
Producer Namit Malhotra said the Ramayana film saga could potentially expand into a trilogy, depending on audience feedback to the first two installments. While currently billed as a two-part project, Malhotra has not ruled out revisiting original plans.
Initially envisioned as a three-part film series, the production team decided to condense the mythological epic into two installments. Malhotra confirmed the creative strategy evolved during development, reshaping the project structure.
Malhotra revealed the makers have two master versions of Ramayana: Part 1 with different runtimes, aiming to avoid making separate versions for global audiences. "We actually have two master versions," he told E! News.
Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for worldwide release on November 5, 2026. However, the sequel, previously expected in 2027, has been pushed to 2028 as Malhotra noted, "We need to do justice to a film of this size."
Following the film's release, the team plans to assess audience reactions before finalizing details for the finale. Malhotra stated, "We may sit back on the table and the drawing board and see if there is anything else that we want to add or subtract.
