Ramayana advance bookings to open on Dussehra ahead of November 5 theatrical release
Advance sales opened on select platforms as the two-part epic drew early premium-format bookings and a dispute over revenue shares slowed wider rollout.
On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, advance bookings opened for Director Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, grossing Rs 10.14 crore across India within days.
A reported dispute between distributor Dharma Productions and exhibitors over revenue-sharing initially limited show availability; distributors sought 60%, 50%, and 40% splits versus the industry standard of 52.5%, 45%, and 37.5%.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film sold 86,187 tickets for the November 5 opening, with Delhi-NCR emerging as the leading market and contributing Rs 1.42 crore from 18,674 tickets.
Despite initial friction, advance sales expanded rapidly across India, with 395 additional shows added to reach 4,339 total shows spanning 134 cities as of Saturday.
The two-part adaptation features Kapoor as Rama, Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, mounted on a reported budget of around Rs 4,000 crore, with Part 2 scheduled for Diwali 2027.
